LAC - "Morceau de Nature"
Lac begins with volume. It references, extracts, processes, unfurls.
The surface, depth and cold shifting ground of a lake - three shades
of violence, as Deleuze scholar Ronald Bogue might put it. But it is
also free of convention. The violence of machines shredding codes,
active resistance. Productive, affirmative violence.

Lac is Tomas Phillips, who normally works with lowercase, minimal
electronics and modern composition.
Utilizing material from legendary metal band Loincloth, Lac combines
processed riffs with abstract, floating sound fields to explore
various avenues into heavy. Flickering moments of light invariably
give way to darkness. The effect is genuinely unsettling music. Music
to accompany Lynchian spaces at their bleakest. The musical spawn of
isolationist minimalism and Doom-laden metal.
