Hāg‘s sophomore album “Over stormskapte fjell” ventures further into the mystical and conjures visions of dark forests, desolate, windswept mountain tops and times long gone, while reflecting on the devil’s essence.
Whoever seeks a reflection of modernity and current trends will be disappointed, for this record is rooted in old values and individualism.
The music is a contemplation on the genre’s golden days and is pursuing its own artistic expression through an onslaught of hard-hitting drumming, sharp riffing and vocals straight from the abyss. Energetic aggression alternates and intertwines with atmospheric and hypnotic passages to create a meditation amidst the storm, while there is a deliberately minimalistic approach.
