“Isobel” is inspired by the tale of Isobel Gowdie, “The Queen of Scottish Witches”. Whose infamous confessions are responsible for the ideas we think of when we hear the word “witch” today. The song “Isobel” is not only a homage to Isobel Gowdie and the life that was robbed from her by religious hysteria, but a testament against the consistent religious persecution of women we have seen throughout history.
